Do You Have PTSD Symptoms?

About This Quiz

This quiz is inspired by the PCL-5 (PTSD Checklist for DSM-5), a widely used research screening tool for PTSD-related symptoms. It explores common indicators including intrusive memories, hypervigilance, emotional numbing, avoidance of reminders, and changes in mood and thinking patterns following difficult or traumatic experiences.

PTSD can develop after a wide range of experiences, not only war or assault, but also accidents, medical emergencies, childhood adversity, relationship abuse, and repeated exposure to distressing situations. Many people do not recognise their symptoms as PTSD-related because the experiences do not feel serious enough. All trauma is valid and all symptoms deserve compassionate attention.

This quiz is a self-reflection and awareness tool, not a clinical diagnosis. If your results suggest significant symptoms, we strongly encourage you to speak with a mental health professional. Effective, evidence-based treatments exist including EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, and somatic approaches. You do not need to carry this alone.

Research basis: Weathers et al. (2013) PCL-5, DSM-5 PTSD diagnostic criteria.
