This quiz is inspired by the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) research, particularly the landmark ACE Study by Felitti et al. (1998), which found that childhood adversity has profound and lasting effects on physical health, mental health, and adult behaviour. ACEs include various forms of abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction experienced during childhood.
The purpose of this quiz is to increase self-awareness, not to diagnose. Many adults carry the effects of childhood adversity without connecting their present-day patterns to their early experiences. Understanding the connection between past experiences and present emotional responses is the first step toward healing.
If this quiz raises difficult feelings, that is a natural response to reflecting on painful experiences. Please be gentle with yourself. Working with a qualified therapist trained in trauma-informed approaches, EMDR, or somatic therapy can provide a safe, structured space to process childhood experiences and build lasting resilience.
