What's Your Love Language?

About This Quiz

This quiz is based on Gary Chapman's five Love Languages framework. The five languages are Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch. They describe the primary ways people feel and express love. Chapman's insight was that partners often express love in their own preferred language rather than their partner's, causing people to feel unloved despite genuine effort.

While the Love Languages model lacks extensive peer-reviewed academic validation, it has proven widely useful as a practical communication framework for couples and families. Many relationship therapists use it as a starting point for exploring emotional needs and mismatches in how love is expressed and received across different relationship dynamics.

Use your result to open a conversation with your partner, family members, or close friends about how each of you most feels appreciated. Knowing someone's love language is most useful when it becomes a mutual practice of intentional expression. If your relationship is experiencing deeper difficulties, a couples counsellor can provide professional support.
