This quiz is based on the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI), developed by Raskin and Hall (1979) and widely used in personality research. It measures narcissistic traits on a spectrum, from healthy self-confidence at one end to entitled, exploitative patterns at the other. Subclinical narcissistic traits are common in the general population and only a small percentage of people meet the clinical threshold for Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Some degree of narcissism is normal and even adaptive. Problems emerge when narcissistic traits become rigid, pervasive, and lead to consistent exploitation of or indifference to others. This quiz is a self-reflection tool designed to increase awareness of your patterns. It is not a clinical diagnosis and should not be used to label yourself or others without professional assessment.
If you are concerned about elevated narcissistic traits in yourself, a psychologist or therapist can provide professional assessment and help you understand your patterns in depth. If you believe you are in a relationship with someone exhibiting significant narcissistic patterns, please seek support from a therapist experienced in this area.
